The ERC Consolidator Grants 2024 call closed for applications on 12 December 2023. These are the preliminary data on the submitted proposals:
- The ERC received 2,313 proposals. This is an increase of 8.6% compared to the 2023 call when 2,130 applications were submitted.
- The highest number of applications were in Physical Sciences and Engineering (933), followed by Social Science and Humanities (730), and Life Sciences (650).
- Women submitted 38.9% of the proposals, which is a higher percentage than in the 2023 call (35.7%).
In its Work Programme 2024, the ERC earmarked €584 million for an estimated 291 Consolidator Grants. The ERC is now starting the evaluation of the proposals. The selected projects will likely be announced in the autumn of 2024. The budget of this call may increase due to additional financial contributions from countries associated to Horizon Europe
ERC Consolidator Grants are designed to support excellent researchers at the career stage at which they may still be consolidating their own independent research team or programme. Applicants must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition, and feasibility of their scientific proposals.
