Jana Šifta is a scientific officer and project adviser in the European Research Council Executive Agency, in the Social Sciences and Humanities Unit. She works for the whole cycle of grant application for ERC grants (Starting, Consolidator and Advanced Grants) and is responsible for the Consolidator Grant Call for one panel (SH7 panel – Human Mobility, Environment and Space). She also monitors the scientific implementation of funded grants within her area or expertise. She is involved in the ERC Widening participation campaign, which aims at closing the gap between the Widening participation countries and the rest of the EU. She received her Ph.D. in social geography from Charles University in Prague and before joining the ERC she worked as an Associate Professor of Human Geography at the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development in the same university. Her research interests include geography of consumption, alternative food networks and urban agriculture. As a senior researcher in the National Institute of Mental Health she studied quality of life and lifestyle, with a focus on the study of addictions.
