Louise Amoore is Professor of Political Geography at Durham University UK, and PI of the ERC Advanced Grant "Algorithmic Societies: Ethical Life in the Machine Learning Age". Her research examines the political and ethical implications of algorithmic technologies. She is the author of "Cloud Ethics: Algorithms and the Attributes of Ourselves and Others" (Duke University press, 2020); and "The Politics of Possibility: Risk and Security Beyond Probability" (Duke University Press, 2013); as well as many articles in leading academic journals. She has given oral evidence before the UK House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee (on algorithms in public decision-making, and futures of biometrics in society) and she is a member of the UK government Non-Departmental Biometrics, Forensics, and Data Ethics Committee.
